Leslie Levy Publishing : : : view collection

Leslie Levy opened her fine art gallery in 1976 in
the Scottsdale, Arizona art district. Scottsdale is
one of the art centers of the country.

In 1978, with a keen sense of marketing, Leslie
decided to publish an art poster to advertise an
upcoming exhibit for one of her most popular
artists. The posters were a hit and so she
decided to publish another show poster for this
artist the following year. She was surprised
when she started receiving orders from other
art galleries and from an art distributor
named Bruce McGaw. It was unfortunate that
she had only printed a few hundred posters
because Bruce wanted to purchase all of
them. With the popularity of the previous
posters, Leslie decided to publish for more of her
artists including Steve Hanks and thus, Leslie
Levy Fine Art Publishing was born.

An artist, herself, Leslie has always had an "eye"
for good art. Now she began using her artistic
skills to oversee the process of reproducing an
offset print to closely resemble an original work of
art. Her artistic ability laid the basis for designing
the posters and when she had published a
variety of prints, to design her own full color
catalogue.

She learned that the marketing of the posters
included taking part in trade shows and
advertising in trade magazines. Leslie Levy Fine
Art Publishing was becoming a profitable
business. What began as a way to advertise
her own gallery artists, became a separate,
well respected business, publishing the art of
many other artists.

In time Leslie Levy Fine Art Publishing became
one of the most recognized publishers in the
industry. Always quality conscious, this company
produced beautiful posters, using the finest
printing companies and highest quality papers.
It fulfilled a need among art buyers for
reproductions of fine art created by outstanding
living artists and photographers.

In 2000 Leslie Levy Fine Art Publishing joined
Bentley Publishing Group. Leslie Levy still
operates an original art gallery in Scottsdale,
Arizona. Approaching its 30th year in business,
the gallery enjoys an outstanding reputation in
a city which values art.
